Union Pacific and Norfolk Southern Try Making Their Case for a Merger

Regulators will decide whether a merger of Union Pacific and Norfolk Southern would improve shipment times or stifle competition. A decision is expected in 2027.If a merger between Union Pacific and Norfolk Southern goes through, it will put about 40 percent of the nation’s rail freight in the hands of one railroad.
